Beer world clocks – When is beer drunk the most

We have delved into the beer reviews made in the Pint Please app over the past year and discovered the users’ beer habits. In this blog post, we share exciting findings and reveal the secrets of the behaviour of beer lovers.
What time is beer o’clock?
Pint Please app data reveals when we actually drink our beer. Evenings are definitely the busiest time. Globally, the most popular hours are between eight and ten in the evening. There were country-specific differences here. For example, England and Germany’s most popular drinking hours were a little earlier.
As you can see from the table below, the tasting pace slows down after ten. At that time, many people start to chill down or alternatively go to nightclubs where they no longer have time to fiddle with their cell phones!

How strong beer do we drink?
Does ABV matter? Indeed! The average alcohol content of the beers tasted at Pint Please is 5.8%. Surprisingly, the day of the week doesn’t matter to the strength of the beer: on weekends and weekdays, people enjoy beers of roughly the same strength. On weekdays even slightly (0.1%) stronger than on weekends. Here we looked at all beer styles together. You will find more differences in comparing beer styles, but more on that later.
Where do we drink our beer?
Location information for tastings is also essential for Pint Please users. About 28.5% of the reviews included a place marked by the user. Shops, such as markets and liquor stores, were mostly included as the places of purchase.
The most popular places to buy are shops and markets, which cover 35.7% of all ratings. So most of us enjoy beer at home or in another private space alone or in the company of friends.
The second most popular place to drink is pubs (29.1%), where many go to enjoy good company and a wide selection of beer. However, there was an apparent variation here by country. For example, beer was enjoyed significantly more in pubs in England than in Finland. Liquor stores are also popular shopping places for beer and their share is 11.9%. The popularity of online shopping has grown all the time, but it remained below six per cent globally. There were also apparent country-specific differences in buying from web shops.
Interestingly, nightclubs are not very popular places to drink beer among Pint Please users, accounting for only 0.19%. Beer lovers prefer calmer and more relaxing environments to enjoy their beer in the best possible way.
