Pint Please level update

We have made an update to the level system in Pint Please. This is the ranking system where you users progress by collecting Pintcoins and advancing in different levels.

Origin

When we originally designed the level system we underestimated the passion that our users have for beer and how they would progress in levels in Pint Please. Our system broke when a first user reached the highest level in Pint Please which was level 100 (Beer King). We thought that nobody would reach that for years but it happened in a very first year. After that we had to make a quick fix and create new level (101), but somebody reached that too by drinking beer and especially adding new beers to Pint Please and updating the information on the existing ones.

We then had to create a few more levels which would be so far away that none of our users would reach while we come up with an updated level system. This also meant that the progress for many users slowed down quite a lot if they were in the higher levels.

There was also a design decision from the very early version of the Pint Please where certain levels would have three different star (⭐, ⭐⭐, ⭐⭐⭐) levels in them. After several updates to Pint Please this legacy still remained but the star levels were not indicated in the app anymore. This made it so that in some cases user’s level number was updated but the level name didn’t change. Worked as specified but didn’t really make that much sense in the user’s perspective.

Now we have made an update to the levels.

New level system

There are now 211 different levels in Pint Please. All the Pintcoins you have collected before are still there. You might have moved to a higher level than before depending on which level you were earlier. This is because we have added over hundred new levels. These levels are visible mostly for those users who were earlier on level 91 or higher.

Names have also been updated. This means that your rank name might have changed even though you stayed in the same level as before the level update.

Note that you have not gone down in the levels and you still have the same Pintcoins as before.

If you have a lot of Pintcoins, like hundreds of thousands, the levels won’t be changing very fast but the progress is still happening. Users who most benefit from this update are those who were earlier in levels 90+. Old star level system has been removed and this affects any user who was earlier in level 21 or above.
