Pub review: Crown and Anchor

Pub review: Crown and Anchor

Last weekend I popped into the Crown and Anchor, a delightful pub perched along Brixton Road that comes into its own on warm, sunny afternoons (thank global warming for that in February!).

The Crown and Anchor is one of South London’s finest real ale and craft beer spots, a really nice boozer with a large exposed brick wall behind the two-dozen-tap bar, where the draft menu proudly hangs. They even have an infuser beer tap to increase the hops in their wide range of beers!

On Sunday, they had some of Britain’s finest brewers available, including Cloudwater, Brixton Brewery and Siren. I opted for a nice 2/3 of the FourPure Oatmeal Stout, one of the most refreshing dark beers that London provides.

Brixton has had a beer renaissance over the last few years. It is now home to both Clarkshaw’s and Brixton Brewery, craft beer spots are popping up all around the village including Craft Beer Co, and The Crown and Anchor is even opposite Booma – a unique craft beer specialist curry house! Get down Brixton Road to sample all these delights.
