Summertime Brings New Seasonal Beer Releases

Schools are soon out for summer, and it’s time to take a look at the upcoming beer releases. What’s new on the summer beer selection?

Here are the freshest ones of the newly launched beer releases for summer season,
mainly from Europe: UK, France, Netherlands, United States, Denmark and Germany. Take a look at these newbies if you’re having a hard time choosing a thirst-quencher. (Hopefully still not.)

Some of the beers listed here are only available locally, but some of them are part of an international supply and can be purchased from online stores.

Microbrasserie Micromégas (France): Summer Sadness, 5.1% Premium Lager

This one is a Japanese rice lager from a French microbrewery. It is based on jasmine rice, which gives it an extravagant floral flavour. In general, all the lager beer styles are highly recommendable for the summer season, but this sounds especially tasty.

Pennine Brewing Co. (England): Summer Topaz, 4.0% Golden Ale / Blond Ale

Summer Topaz is an Australian blond ale with Topaz hops, which give vibrant flavours of apricot and melon with an underlying hint of raisin and spice to this unique beer style.

“Nice fruity beer. Lots of esters, naturally. Hints of stone fruit that’s smooth and mellow, with a biscuit malt base. Hardly any bitterness, just a nice fruity aftertaste”, described in Pint Please.

Brew York (England): Curbside Summer, 6.0 % New England IPA / Hazy IPA

This New England IPA is brewed – in collaboration with the legendary Crown and Kettle pub in Manchester –, with fruity Amarillo and Citra hops for refreshing citrus notes, and some intensifying Talus hops including citrus and pine notes.

Brasserie de Bretagne (France): Summer IPA, 5.0 % India Pale Ale

Britt Summer IPA is especially made for summertime. It’s a pale and light IPA, that is said to be a truly thirst-quenching ale that has an intense and aromatic flavour.

La Brasserie Fondamentale (L.B.F.) (France): East Coast – Fruits d’été, 5.7 % India Pale Ale

This beer has some complexity in its flavour compared to other variations. It’s an IPA with moderate bitterness and a round and sweet finish, bringing summer fruits to your mouth.

Walhalla Brouwerij & Proeflokaal (Netherlands): Citra Summer Session IPA 2022 3.7 % Session IPA

This is a classic seasonal beer from a Dutch brewery that brings a new edition of the beer every year – with just the right amount of Citra hops. This year’s cloudy session IPA is described as tasty as the earlier versions.

Starr Hill (United States): Sun Burn Summer Ale, 4.5 % Wheat Beer / Wheat Ale

Starr Hill beers are brewed in Virginia, USA (already since 1999). Sun Burn is the brewery’s seasonal star that is said to taste like the legendary Corona with lime – but even better!

Brauhaus Ernst August (Germany): Hanöversch Sommer Lager, 5.2% Amber Lager / Vienna Lager

This organic helles lager from Hanover, Germany, is available from June till August. It’s brewed as its Bavarian models. It’s only mildly hopped and has a refreshing character. Helles provides a malty and slightly sweet aroma.

Les Brasseurs Savoyards (France): Nonne Summer IPA, 5.9 % India Pale Ale

This little French brewery is also 100% organic. Refreshing Summer IPA is the newest release in their award-winning Nonne series.

Mikkeller (Denmark): Kärlek Vår/Sommar 2022, 4.9% Pale Ale – International

Danish brewery comes back with its classic seasonal beer called Kärlek (‘Love’). Last year’s Kärkek was organic, this year’s hazy.
