Extended Quarantine Day #48. Vappu/May 1 festivities require Meads. This is my second Mead this weekend. A souvenir from Poland early January 🇵🇱 Brilliant, deep amber Mead. Practically no carbonation, neither head. The nose receives a moderate provision of honey infused stone fruit, especially nectarine, peach and a bit of mango. A suggestion of ginger emanates discreetly to the nostrils. Attractive but thin. The taste is as sweet as promised: heavily sugary apricot, nectarine, a small injection of peach and more distant mango as well as banana lie on the sticky bed of honey coating. Nice. Nicely glues my lips as well. The best component of the gustatory profile is, nevertheless, chili that tickles the tastebuds cutely and leaves a mild warming feeling in the throat. Ginger is so subdued that I can barely detect it. The Mead finishes basically quite quickly but both the sticky oversweet taste and the warming feeling linger longer in the mouth. The mouthfeel is sappy, sticky and lip-glueing, which is no surprise. It's also neatly spicy and somewhat warming although the latter in a moderate degree. Simultaneously traditional and innovative. I 🧡 this albeit this is not very layered. This is a slow sipper. 750 ml and 13 % will make this last for the whole day and evening.
