Kaakao ja vanilja maistuvat. Melko vahva maku kaikkinensa.

3 Bean Stout. Von Lervig 🇳🇴. Aus Wasser, Gerstenmalz, Hafer, Hopfen, Hefe, Kakaobohnen, Tonkabohnen und Vanille.12% ABV. Hallelujah! Fantastisches Dessertbier!

I've had this before but never got around to reviewing it. Peculiar and striking can art as one and all expect from Lervig. Poured lucious black, as though it were laced with molasses, leaving a body of jet black with a half finger of chocolate brown head that refused to hang around. Soft foaminess is clear and so is a very mild carbonation, but like the head it all passes relatively quickly. Aromas of brown sugar, molasses mltoo maybe? Sweet vanilla ( i think this is actuallly the tonka bean) and dark chocolate atop the foundation of the 12%. The feeling in the mouth is so much lighter than one would expect. To be clear, it's not 'soft' or 'thin', it's just a little lighter than I expected. It's as if there is a centre pole in the stream of flavours, carrying the alcohol and warmth in the centre and while everything else is sort of flowing around this. Taste is nicely balanced I think, the sweet notes of the scent are upfront again, brown sugar and/or molasses, Tonka with chocolate, all present. A chocolate malt profile starts to seep in, with soft espresso undertones but it fades nearly as quickly and subtly as it came in. It's a great all rounder in the imperial arena, hugely enjoyable even though it is not massively complex. Sure, they could try to ad more, but there is a risk of spoiling it. Less is definitely more in this case, especislly when it's done so well.
