Originally named Napoleon’s Retreat after Mike Harding’s (The Rochdale Cowboy) poem but renamed in 2015, this chestnut ale is brewed in the traditional NW style. An easy drinking, full-flavoured bitter, but well-rounded with some residual sweetness, with tastes of fruit and vanilla balanced with a resinous hop character. A beer that needs to be savoured.
