Five Lamps Pale Ale, Ireland

Very lovely pour with lots of foam and bubbles that rushed up the glass but thankfully stopped just in time. The body is a nice translucent amber colour with lots of bubbles up the side of the glass and one finger of bubbly white head that dissipated quickly. Scent is nice and malty, biscuit, caramel and some dried fruits to start with lots of doughy bread at the end. Mouthfeel started well, nice and vibrant with lots of carbonation and reasonable foam, but this passed over time and the beer was flat before I finished it. Taste ar first is all the malt from the scent, sweet at first before the bitterness rolls in. Thr bitter notes don't combat the sweetness all too well and the taste starts to descend into a red ale, with a sort of copper taste coming to the fore and dominating the aftertaste too. This wasn't a great experience but it had promise. I will try it again the next time I see it.
