Haze Wave
5.1% American Pale Ale
Helsinki Haze Wave Festival is a celebration of craft beer! Located in the historic city, the festival is a ceremony of friendship, as breweries from across the globe assemble to celebrate all things craft! Haze Wave is our official festival beer and collaboration with our friends from Pien Brewing. Combining Belma and Simcoe hops helps to bring a huge wave of fruit flavours, making our hazy pale the perfect counterpart whilst relaxing in the Finnish sun. Kippis!

Hiilihappoa aivan liikaa. Muuten maultaan aika perussettiä

This is a beer that I had to consider long in the shop. Pien x Brew York collaboration. Had I come across with this closer to the Haze Wave Festival in late July, I would have definitely bought it. Now it's early November, even if the best before is dated in March 2023, I don't believe that the freshness is anymore at the level it should be. Despite my scepticism, I bought it. The beer pours a ridiculous froth. It basically fills the whole glass first. An indication of age? I guess. The color is impenetrable, deep yellow. Looks pretty. As if the number of days had no impact on the color. No sign of oxidization. The scent puts forward cantaloupe, mandarin, orange peel, a bit of grapefruit zest and a wisp of strawberry. Ripe fruity, with a faint candy-like amendment. Promising. The taste is restrained. I mean RESTRAINED. Where are all the hop flavors?? It's seldom that a gustatory experience is less pronounced than the olfactory one. Now it is. Lemon and grapefruit pulp can be recognized. A bit of grass, as well. Nevertheless, nothing that resembles those ripe fruity elements of the scent. Disappointment. The body is light. The finish is citrusy and faintly grassy. Dies relatively fast. Not much to mourn about. The mouthfeel is thin to light, slightly crisp, effervescent, a bit dry and moderately drying. Zesty, as well. Has obviously lost its best flavors. Nobody can fight the time.
