Serpent
9.5% Belgian Strong Ale
Collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery. Serpent is the first beer of its kind, and one of the coolest things either brewery has ever done. We went to Oliver’s Cider in Hereford seeking their lees, the natural wild yeasts that ferment their apples into great traditional ciders. We brewed a robust Belgian-inspired golden ale at Thornbridge, added the lees in barrels, aged the beer for more than a year, and bottle conditioned it. Now Serpent emerges dry, tart, firm, fine and funky, a full expression of our friendship, great British brewing, American boldness, and Herefordshire countryside.

Brooklynin tasting OlutExpo 2018 Tuoksussa omenaa, appelsiinia, sitruunaa, aavistus happamuutta ja hunajaa Maku lähes flätti, aprikoosinen, omenaa, päärynää, sitruunaa. Melkein kuin siideriä. Pehmeä ja helppo. Kuiva. Aavistus tynnyriä lämmetessä.

Backlogia Olutexposta 2018. (lyhyistä muistiinpanoista) Brooklynin tasting. (2015) Flätti suutuntuma. Kuivattaa kepeästi. Pehmeä, tasapainoinen, siiderinen, makean pehmeän päärynäinen ja omenainen, tamminen/puinen, valkoviininen.

Very unique - hints of apple/cider, sweet, anise, despite being a golden ale. Only downside is the price.

As locals we sat in the gentle rain outside The Sally. After a few pints of Special Pale - landlord Pete brought a bottle of this behemoth out. His last bottle of 3 - top man. It's actually a collaboration between Brooklyn, Thornbridge and the great Tom Oliver of cider fame. I cannot do it justice - it's the closest I've come to 5 stars, but I'm still reserving that honour for God knows what. This is an immense beer - it's a Belgian golden Ale that's been aged in cider barrels for over a year. It's tart, balanced and beautiful. I'm convinced it would spank most fine wines into a cocked hat. One of the best beers I've ever tasted. World Class.

It has a cider nose and tastes like someone has mixed cava cider and a little wheat beer. It's very refreshing and different!
