The last nightcap and dessert. Heavily adjuncted Imperial Stout. Diabetes guaranteed.
Opaque, thick black beer with a bright shine and rich carbonation builds a velvety, fawn head. The foamy lid balloons first two fingers thick, melts then to a cute lace ring and eventually thinner.
Tonka chocolate is what I get in the scent. Tonka bean, vanilla, cacao nibs, dark chocolate, loads of lactose constitute the palette. Dark malt is depictable but impotent.
The flavor universe is composed of intensive nuances but still nothing mind-blowing. Anyway, I receive bags of tonka, cacao nibs, raw chocolate, vanilla, a drop of espresso, lactose and oat biscuit. What disturbs me here is a grassy hint in the shadows, I wouldn't welcome anything bigger than solely oppressed hops in this kind of beer. Now we experience a bit of imbalance because of the sweet adjuncts and hops.
The body is light-medium to medium. Clearly substandard for the ABV. Should definitely be more robust. The finish serves bitter black coffee, raw cacao powder, some lactose and grassy hops. Vanishes from the mouth after a while.
The mouthfeel is light-medium, adjuncted, lip-glueing and somewhat desserty. The deepness and intensity could be more pronounced. Not a masterpiece this one either. Can't help, none of the beers exceeds the 4 star level today.
