This beer is interesting: it has been enhanced with PHANTASM. Phantasm is a powder derived from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grapes in New Zealand. It's an organic compound high in aromatic molecules called thiols. To cut a long scientific story short, the idea of applying Phantasm in brewing is to enhance the aroma of the beer, make juicy even more juicy. (Just google more if interested). This is very likely my first ever Phantasm beer. The beer shows a foggy, pale yellow face. Carbonation is rich but not overwhelming. A regular, off-white head emerges on the top up to the level of two fingers. Short retention. Now, I should expect an intensive tropical nectar in my nose. Do I get it? Well, the elements include pineapple, orange, tangerine, lychee, maybe a bit of mango as well. The cocktail is very tropical. I also get something sweet as if lactose although the beer doesn't contain lactose. Very juicy indeed!  💛💛 Hope the same trajectory can be spotted on the tongue, as well. Pineapple is ample. Tangerine and orange merge with lychee and a suggestion of coconut. Lemon pulp joins the spectacle. The malty side wants to remain in the background but both oat flakes and wheat bun can be picked. I admit that the profile is juicy but not abundantly so anyway. I've had so many juicier and definitely more tropical beers that haven't been "viagraized" with Phantasm. Obviously you can get the same result with a copious load of fruity hops, and go even beyond what the Phantasm offers in this beer. The body is medium. The end is citrusy and pineappley, some of the previous components carry over to the finishing line, some others don't. Not much different though. Fear of the dark, I have a constant fear that the aftertaste's always near; fear of the dark, fear of the dark, I have a phobia that the aftertaste's always there. The mouthfeel is medium, rather soft, smooth, juicy, a tad nectar-like and tropical. It's even modestly candy-like, which is interesting for sure! Yet also a bit dry and drying. All in all, a palatable juicy piece but nothing phenomenal. I've had multiple better New England IPAs of various strengths. Phantasm here doesn't prove to be particularly phantastic. Therefore, I snatch 0.2 stars away from the rating.
