Mainio makea barley wine. Pehmeä ja helppo juotava. On tässä makua todella runsaasti.

Hanasta. Makea maltainen maku. Humalan karvaus tulee vähän esiin jälkimaussa. Tälle voisi unohtaminen kaapin perälle tehdä hyvää.

Maltainen ja rusinainen.

Long time since my last Barley Wine. Now one. Pours impenetrable copper. The head is antique white with minuscule bubbles and a height that exceeds one finger. The foamy crown dissipates fast to a thin lace ring on the top. The scent takes me with surprise! Indeed! The first component I capture in the air is... purple gooseberry. Yes. Exactly. That's what I thought myself, too. [I gather myself.] Next, I'm receiving caramel and a suggestion of raisin, followed by multigrain bread. Nothing else. Not overly impressive, rather confusing but we'll see. Now the taste. [*Sips*] [*Sigh of relief*] Kicks in more traditional BW variables like sweet dough, raisin, caramel and a bit of toffee. And a distinct note of alcohol. Semisweet. The hoppy sphere is narrow and subdued. Piney anyway. I can also still pick a berry flavor but this time it's rather blackcurrant. And a hint of orange. Okay, in a nutshell, my tastebuds would suggest an English Barley Wine for the style but the "official classification" in the rival app says this is its American cousin. The body is full. Not enormous but sufficient for being full. The finish is a tad alcoholic. Maybe the piney hoppy segment grows at this stage to what I understand as an American BW. The sweetness remains but the rest of the package portrays less prominent flavors than upfront. I can't see straight; I hope the aftertaste doesn't wake again; my throat's burnin'; I hope I can breathe again. The mouthfeel is full, alcoholic, lip-glueing and somewhat thick. Marginally sharp. The taste of alcohol is fine when the ABV justifies it. Not sure that it's the case here.

Oranssisen, meripihkaisen ja tummahkon ruskeaa ja sameaa. Kepoinen ja pienikuplainen vaahto. Tuoksu maukkaan, makean ja kevyen karamellisen maltainen, kepeän hedelmäinen, rusinainen ja luumuinen, vihreän yrttinen ja katajaisen havuinen. Maku makean, runsaan, katkerahkon ja karamellisen maltainen, kepeän hedelmäinen, marmeladinen ja rusinainen, aavistuksen vihreän lehtinen ja havuinen, pihkainen sekä selkeän humalaisen katkera. Hyvät, runsaat ja tasapainoiset, mutta ehkä osin hieman raa'an oloiset maut. Suutuntuma on melko täyteläinen, kuivakka ja pehmeähkö. Oikein maukas, monivivahteinen ja runsas, mutta osin jopa jyrkkiä makuja sisältävä barley wine. Pienellä kypsyttelyllä tosin nämäkin voivat tasoittua ja pehmentyä. Silti jo nyt oikein mukavaa juotavaa ja jotenkin hyvin sahtimainen tunnelma jäi...

Jatkeskellaan maisteluhetkeä… Tuoksu on maltainen, hivenen suklainen sekä vodkainen. Maku on makean maltainen jossa hieman kypsää hedelmällisyyttä sekä tietynlaista alkomaholia antamaan potkua tähän olueeseen makua sekä potkua. Onneksi alkomaholi pysyy taustalla.
