Pauwel Kwak
8.4% Belgian Strong Ale
Created in the 1980s, and named after an 18th century brewer and innkeeper, Pauwel Kwak, who apparantly developed a shorter version of the traditional English long stirrup glass (which developed into the yard of ale), for coachmen to use. Kwak is served with respect for tradition in its own Kwak glass. Recognisable, special and just as idiosyncratic as the taste of the beer itself.

As good as I remember it….a little indulgence to celebrate North London still being red…Belgian Amber beer, 8.4% complex flavours but smooth and strong alcoholic combine for a great tasting beer. Apologies for using the wrong glass, my Kwak glass and plinth are in a storage box somewhere in the garage and I was too eager to drink this bottle; bought at Carrefour at Brussels Midi train station.
