Alhambra Reserva Roja
7.2% Dunkler Bock

Red variant of the Alhambra Reserva, again in a very fancy looking bottle with no label and all the details embossed on thr glass. Body is almost a dull brown but when held to the light, it shines a beautiful ruby red with one finger of off white buby head. Aromas sweet biscuit, cinder toffee and sticky caramel, all carrying a slight hint of candied orange peel, before dried currants and raisins are noticed. Mouthfeel is medium but leaning towards heavy, pleasantly foamy with a little syrupy feeling in the throat. The balance between these two textures is very well achieved here. Taste is nicely malty upfront, unlike most Spanish beers I've had this week, the malts are nicely balanced and compliment each other. Lots of buttery toffee and sweet biscuit in the opener, before the candied orange peel spikes. As the spike settles, some fermented fruit rears it's head, slight mango and melon. The caramel comes next carrying the dried fruits from the scent. The aftertaste is a little grainy by comparison but this doesn't dominate and the positive elements also remain. A very good red ale.
