Oh my. I had to change my mind about not returning to this place during my 🇨🇠visit. My favorite place, La Jonquille, is closed today. Another place, La Taproom, had changed its name and style some time back: it's nowadays Mademoiselle Fifi, a cocktail bar. They still have a set of craft beers on tap, so I was ready to give it a chance. Once. But: it's also closed today. Damn. A third place is called Le Track Bar. It replaced the once best craft beer haven in Geneva, Au Coin Mousse. However, it's also a cocktail bar and has lost everything that used to be good in that corner. Beer is not in their dna. I'm not going to give it a chance. No way!
Therefore, back to Tom Beers. At least I can get a couple of untasted beers here. How come the life is so difficult now?
Alright, the beer. Looks turbid, warm orange. Very much like mango nectar. The emerging head is creamy, one finger tall, and soon a mere haze on the top.
A hint of orange zest in the air. That's it. Unimpressive. The gustatory provision is almost equally impotent: orange peel, lemon pith, grass and a distant idea of malt in the background. Not convincing at all.
And even if that is not enough, the body is thin. What else? I can even sense the thinness. Oh gosh. The end is slightly more bitter than upfront but citrusy, generally speaking.
The sensation on the tongue is. Yes. Thin. Zesty. Equally pulpy and pithy. Slightly crisp. And a bit drying. Definitely not a winner. Tick the box and forget.
