I have been truly looking forward to this beer. I pop the top and instently am meet with a plesent dark roasty aroma. It truly dose poor black as black can be. Frothy coffee colourd head that lingers... Sip...MMMM! Tasty indeed. Like smokie roasty caramel. Definitly some straight up alcohol in their wich is fine with me. Awsome Gord, it is enjoyable and i think happy thoughts. CHEERS everone out their. Thanks Gord . I just wish i had another.

This is my first ever homebrew. I designed the recipe myself so I didn't know what to expect truly. Theory is fine but practical application can be much different. I am happy that I was not too far off what I wanted. It pours a solid dark black that shows only a little red around the edges of my flashlight test. It has a nice coffee with a dash of cream colored small head but it fades off very quickly. The nose presented some noticeable chocolate, some nice roastiness, a small promise of smoke. The hops are noticeable as a tangy kind of smell. In the mouth it has a medium thin body but is slightly creamy and soft. The sensation sticks to the mouth as oatmeal stouts tend to. Honestly it comes across more like like a porter than a stout. The smoke is more noticeable on the tongue than the nose. Flavours of chocolate, roast barley, earthy, but an ever so tiny bit of coffee and of course a neat little tangy hint from the hops. It hits the head harder than I'd expect a 6.3% to, but I'm okay with that. It's not super amazing but good enough for a first go. I won't be dissapointed drinking it. Loses some points for not being true to style (My fault) but gets some bonus points because I made it.
