Midnight Train To Byker
10.0% Imperial IPA / Double IPA
The guys at Wylam kept dreaming that someday they’d make an Imperial DIPA. A super DIPA. It took a while to get that far. With 30 grammes of hops per litre to blow your mind, a 10% ABV and a whole load of malt, they brewed that Midnight Train To Byker....

Yeah, this is pretty good like. These cryo hops are like hops on steroids. They deliver big, incredibly juicy tropical and citrus flavour. Initially the bitterness was intense and a bit too much for me, detracting from the flavour slightly, but after a few mouthfuls it mellowed to a smooth finish with only a slight bitter citrus aftertaste. Apart from this initial bitterness my only problem is the carbonation, the head disappeared straight away and I think it would have helped if it had that great frothy roll around the mouth thing going on. Still sterling stuff!!

Looks good from the off with that nice opaque look you get from a truly well made beer. Aroma is of hops, lots of them and you can smell the strength. Taste does not disappoint with a good hop sweetness and an almost buttery flavour. This gives way to a nice bitterness and lovely mouth feel. Excellent, if strong stuff!
