A quintessential English bitter. Lots of earthy spicy notes, plenty of gentle bitterness and a bready malt base. Nice beer although not my favourite style, it’s well executed

A strange name for an ale given that bock’s are lagers. At 6% too, this is the lowest ABV I’ve seen for a barleywine which are usually upwards of 8%. I needn’t have worried though as flavour wise it was spot on. Aromas of fresh baked bread and intense biscuit give way to flavours of toffee, molasses and dried fruits. Quite rich and fruity and the low ABV doesn’t detract from the nice beer that it is.

Merry Christmas Pint Pleasers! First beer of the day, a sessionable hazy pale gifted from friends and brewed locally in Chesterfield. Nothing too exciting but a standard hazy pale, really. After a belly full of food and wine I’m glad for something simple to start my Christmas Day beery journey. Hope you’re all having a wonderfully festive time! 👍🎅

My kind of pale ale. British malt, American hops, served from the cask… Biscuit and slight caramel from the malt. Smooth bitterness with mellow grapefruit and citrus peel flavours aplenty. If we weren’t moving on, I’d have shooed this all night

An absolute belter and far better than when I had it from the bottle a few years ago. Cask conditioned, what more can I say?! Liquid chocolate with hints of nut and caramel. Lovely drop!

Bonne bière, bulles fines.
