I'm pulling out some old beer that I've had in storage. It's best by 2021 but has always been in a cool spot and dark so maybe it's okay. I first rated this beer in 2019 when I was still just starting. Wonder if I still will give it a 5.0 today. Age hasn't prevented it from having a full and frothy head. May be awhile. Very faint aroma of cocoa. The head is maintaining its character. Not a heavy texture for a stout. Rather thin actually. Flavor brings a bittersweet chocolate, not dark chocolate and not American. More of a mild Swiss chocolate. Definitely not a strong, powerful flavor and not lasting. The first is okay, but by the middle, it tastes more like a dark cola. Flavor is mostly gone by the finish. I will try to locate another of these that is fresh and give it a more equitable rating. Perhaps it's age has affected its flavor. What I have here is not very good and only deserves a 2.6.

In Houston having a guys beer day. Let the girls go shopping and leave us alone 😜. Having a Left Hand stout, nice. No aroma, modest head. Not a heavy texture while still soft. The coconut is not openly artificial Not Not trying to dominate the beer. It's sitting back allowing the basic milk stout the carry the flavor while adding the coconut in a submissive addition that compliments the overall character. Nice but...it's not remarkable, not special, not memorable. It's O K but that's all.

Trying new beers at Ryan's in Houston right after the SOTS Reunion. Aroma of hard candy lemon drops. Taste is......awful. It's like cleaner. Like lemon lysol disinfectant. Can't drink this. Not even curious to put another drop in my mouth. Need water for cleansing.
