– You want some fish? Now I've got some. Carp. You take it? – No. Yes. Holy crap! This is huge 🐟 About 8 kg. I need bigger equipment for filleting. Ha, my filleting operation didn't look like surgery, rather like a slaughter. I've eaten carp before but not in Finland. And I've definitely never prepared carp myself. Now I will smoke a piece of it while much bigger parts go to the freezer. I will use them another time. My Festbier looks lucid, light brown. Decent carbonation. An off-white tiny-bubbled head exceeds one finger and descends soon to a gossamer lace ring. The scent is malty. Clean grain and a smaller amendment of grassy hops. Faint caramel and bread loom in the background. The palate is pretty much the same. Yes, grainy malt, bread, a hint of caramel, marginal raisin and timid grassy hops. Not much to cheer about but works as a meal flusher. And that's what it's meant for, I guess. Light body. A fairly similar tail as upfront, maybe the caramelly twist grows moderately. The mouthfeel is light, clean, balanced, savory and gulpable. Relatively smooth and marginally crisp, too.
