Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #13 Bottled on 10-2-2019 Bourbon, maple syrup, chocolate and coffee in that order in the aroma. Taste has...wow... that jumped through a lot of flavors very quickly. Taste has bourbon, chocolate, maple syrup and then coffee, finishing with bourbon, oak and light coffee in the finish and aftertaste. The body is full with low carbonation. This has aged pretty well so far. The bourbon is more at the forefront with the coffee and maple syrup fading a bit with time. Everything is still there, but it's definitely a different beer than when it was fresh. Bonus side by side comparison... Bottled on 10-16-2023 Comparing to 2023: Coffee, chocolate, maple syrup and bourbon in that order in the aroma. Taste has maple syrup, coffee, chocolate and then bourbon with coffee and bourbon in the finish and aftertaste. The body is full with low carbonation. This is more how I remember fresh CBS being. The coffee and maple syrup are definitely the stars of this one, but all of the expected flavors are present, minus a noticeable oak presence. It's there, but doesn't really jump out. Of the two, I prefer the fresh CBS, but you really can't go wrong with either. 2019: 4.5/5 2023: 4.75/5

Imperial Stout élaboré par Founders à la robe noire opaque avec un col de mousse beige. En bouche, on retrouve une base chocolatée et vanillée, épaissie par la gourmandise du sirop d'érable, avec une carbonatation presque inexistante. La fin de bouche dévoile les notes de Bourbon sur une toile de fond caféinée qui laisse une légère amertume résiduelle. L'équilibre est superbe, c'est délicieux et digeste. Je la trouve tout de même à peine plus lourde que d'habitude concernant le café. Ce qui masque un peu trop les subtilités qui d'habitude font la différence. Un régal malgré tout.

Et bin, si c'est ça le petit-déjeuner au Canada, je déménage demain. Elle est vraiment top cette bière.

Työviikon, salin ja saunan jälkeen loman kunniaksi parempaa olutta. KBS ekaa kertaa maistettuna oli aika tajunnan räjäyttävä kokemus. Odotukset tällekin on melko kovat, kun olen yrittänyt löytää tätä jo vuosia. Jotenkin aina livahtanut ohi. Tosin aika monta hyvää tynnyri imperial stoutia on tullut KBSn jälkeen juotua. ULKOASULTAAN olut on mustaa ja siihen nousee beige vaahto, joka laskeutuu uduksi lasin reunoille. TUOKSU on pehmeää ja täyteläistä. Paahteista mallasta, kahvia ja tummaa suklaata. Makeudesta vastaa vaahterasiirappia, joka lasiin kaataessa tuntui keulivan, mutta tasoittui oluen seisottua muutaman minuutin lasissa. Vähän lasia heilutellessa löytyy vielä bourbonia ja vaniljaa. MAKU on muuten hyvää! Pehmeää, makeaa ja täyteläistä. Paahdettua mallasta, maitosuklaata, miedosti kahvia. Lasissa seisoessa tuo suklaisuus nousee entistä paremmin esille. Taustalla vaahterasiirappi ja bourbon tekevät taikojaan. Vaahterasiirapin makeus jää varsinkin kielen reunoille hyväksi aikaa taittuen pitkän päälle jopa vähän imeläksi. Alkoholi ei maistu läpi. SUUTUNTUMA on keskitäyteläinen+, pehmeän poreileva ja huulia tahraava. Melkein jopa toivoisi tämän kaliiberin oluelta lisää viskositeettia. Onhan tää ihan hiton hyvää, mutta ei pääse kokemuksena ekan KBS kokeilun rinnalle.
