Eiliseltä. Sitten illan kohokohta.

BEER: Reserve Bourbon County Brand Stout (2018) BREWERY: Goose Island Beer Co. BEER STYLE: Imperial Stout (Elijah Craig Bourbon BA) COUNTRY: USA ALCOHOL (ABV): 15.2% COLOUR (EBC): Deep Dark Brown (90.0) BITTERS (EBU/IBU): 60.0 SCENT: Slow one. Needs to warm and breath up rather long. I get dark chocolate, roasted nuts, roasted dark malts and dry charred oak. FOAM: Nonexistent. GREY’S VIEW Imperial Stout aged 12 months in retired, 12-year old, Elijah Craig Bourbon Barrels. First sip is once again unbelievably delicious. Deep, dark, mellow and strong in flavours. Taste has lots of sweet chocolate ganache, some ancient stones gathered from the world’s end and also deep, dark rye, dark slowly running molasses with extra greasy and oily butter. ABV. is what it is and this does carry that exceptionally well. The Elijah Craig barrels warms up slowly starting from the cheeks. Body in this one is medium thick, almost thick, the charred malts gives good structure to this. Mouthfeel is something equivalent to those oils used to light the streets of London in 1880’s; thick, sticky, drrty smooth and extra nasty. The Elijah Craig barrels reveals themselves slowly and only through patience from the candidate. Sweet and pretty much entirely blended into the beer. Aftertaste is also ganache forwarded, with some liquorice and nicely soft and sweet creaminess. It’s almost like there’s also some peanutbutter. OTHER NOTES: Oomph what a piece. Thicker then ”average” Goose Island Imperial Stouts are, but incredibly drinkable and joyfull too. BOTTLED 4/8/2018 TASTED 2/2/2021
