Some of Britain’s traditional brewers have struggled to come to terms with the brave new world of craft beer, but not Fuller’s. Without discarding their enviable heritage (or legendary marmalade-tinged yeast), they’ve remained up to date, producing interesting beers like the Vintage range, launched in 1997, which is made once a year with “the best malt and hops available at the time” (it says here). Their regular ales are also high-quality (although there are plenty of bad pints of London Pride out there, largely due to sloppy cellarmanship) with ESB, a beer which has inspired a whole style on the other side of the Atlantic, a true classic.

Tuoksussa paahteista maltaisuutta ja kahvisuutta. Maussa kahvia, paahteisuutta hieman toffeeta. Jälkimaussa toffeeta ensin ja sen jälkeen kahvista paahteisuutta. Todella hyvä olut.

Paahteinen ja aika eleetön olut. Ihan okei, vaikka ei mitään erikoista tarjoakaan.

Aroma: Brown bread, brown sugar, dark dried fruits, coffee. Slight metallic. Taste: Brown bread & dark dried fruits together with dark chocolate & coffee. Touch of vanilla. Loads of coffee in the aftertaste. Really good!

A bit of smoke, a bit of chocolate. Maybe a bit too exciting for enjoying on its own, but goes well together with food. Also not the worst choice for a sauna.

Rewieved this in the year 2018 when it was fresh. This has been in storage for eight (8) years. Why? By accident, forgotten bottle. Decided to taste this cautiously, if it is ruined. Pours murky brown brew, tint to red. Looks like finnish beer without hops, i.e. sahti. Scent to fermented fruits and berries, like apples and/or grapes. Winey notes too. Taste is sweet, understandably this is well over its prime time, yeasty sidetaste. Taste to has winey characteristics, fermented and dried fruits. Not ruined but clearly lost its character. Let's see if intestines protests this after some time has gone. Not very enjoyable, because of too long time in storage.
