Some of Britain’s traditional brewers have struggled to come to terms with the brave new world of craft beer, but not Fuller’s. Without discarding their enviable heritage (or legendary marmalade-tinged yeast), they’ve remained up to date, producing interesting beers like the Vintage range, launched in 1997, which is made once a year with “the best malt and hops available at the time” (it says here). Their regular ales are also high-quality (although there are plenty of bad pints of London Pride out there, largely due to sloppy cellarmanship) with ESB, a beer which has inspired a whole style on the other side of the Atlantic, a true classic.

Myös isoveli maistoon (BB 09/2028): Ohuen oranssisen läpikuultavan sysimustaa ja sameahkoa. Vähäinen, rusehtava ja pienikuplainen vaahto. Tuoksu maukkaan, runsaan, makean, ohuen paahteisen ja syvän tumman maltainen, ohuen paahteinen, makeahkon tumman siirappinen, miellyttävän hiivaisen aromaattinen sekä makeahkon kuivatun hedelmäinen (rusinaa, luumua, viikunaa). Maku runsaan, maukkaan, makean, kevyen paahteisen ja syvän tumman maltainen, ruisleipäisen maltainen, paahteisen kahvinen, tumman suklainen ja kevyen tupakkainen, pähkinäinen, makean tummahkon siirappinen ja kuivatun hedelmäinen (viikunaa, luumua, rusinaa, omenaa), miellyttävän hiivaisen aromaattinen, suolaisen salmiakkinen, vihreän lehtinen ja ruohoinen sekä selkeän katkera. Oikein hyvät, runsaat ja tasapainoiset maut. Suutuntuma on melko täyteläinen, pehmeähkö, kuivakka ja vähähiilihappoinen. Erittäinkin maukas, runsas, monivivahteinen ja mukavasti nautiskeltava imppistout. Toinen pullo vielä kypsymään josko vielä paranisi ja pehmenisi...
