Some of Britain’s traditional brewers have struggled to come to terms with the brave new world of craft beer, but not Fuller’s. Without discarding their enviable heritage (or legendary marmalade-tinged yeast), they’ve remained up to date, producing interesting beers like the Vintage range, launched in 1997, which is made once a year with “the best malt and hops available at the time” (it says here). Their regular ales are also high-quality (although there are plenty of bad pints of London Pride out there, largely due to sloppy cellarmanship) with ESB, a beer which has inspired a whole style on the other side of the Atlantic, a true classic.

Nyt osuu. Pääosin paahteisuutta ja suklaata. Kokonaisuus on tasapainossa - ei liian tuhti, muttei liian laimeakaan ja makua riittää. Loistava juoma.

Rapsakka päiväkävely -32° kelissä ja sen jälkeinen palautusjuoma. Tumma,valoa vasten punertava, neste vaahtoaa ihan sopivasti. Tuoksussa paahdetta ja mallasta, liaäksi kuivahedelmää ja suklaata. Runko tässä on melko ohut. Alkupuolella makeutta on jonkinverran, myös miellyttäviä suklaan ja kuivan hedelmän sävyjä. Jälkipuolisko on sitten hyvinkin kuiva ja karvaahko. Kovasti on sitruksista happamuutta ja karvautta maussa mukana. Ennen loppupuolella on myls hentoa maitokahvisuutta mutta se jää karvaan vaihteen jalkoihin. Kokonaisuus ei ole mitenkään paksu ja pehmeä, vaan ennemminkin melko ohut ja pistävä. Kyllä tästä erilaisia vivahteita löytyy mutta kokonaisuus ei ihan istu omaan makuun.
