Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #23 Canned in 2021 Bourbon, salted caramel, chocolate notes and oak in the aroma. Taste has salted caramel first, followed by bourbon, oak and chocolate notes. The oak is ashy which helps to highlight the roasted malts that I didn't initially pick up on. The salted caramel is still noticeable, but it's more of a lightly salted caramel at this point. Some flavors have faded a bit, but the overall drinking experience is still great. The body is full and mouth-coating with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. This was the last new addition to the Gravity anniversary release before they started to fall apart. While it's not my favorite of the anniversary releases, it's a super solid beer and one that I could see myself looking forward to in the future. I've said it a few times throughout this year's calendar, but I really hope they get it together and rebuild the momentum they had with their anniversary releases. This is not only my last can of this particular beer, but (aside from my 4 year vertical of gravity) this is also my last Ellison can. It's a bit bittersweet, but beer is meant to be drank, not stored. No regrets. High 4.25/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #16 Canned in 2020 Nice coffee aroma with bourbon following right behind. Taste has a ton of coffee right up front, followed by flavorful bourbon. Some chocolate, roasted malts and oak show up through the mid-palate and into the finish. While 2019 was by far the best year for this one, this is drinking very well right now. It's a shame that it's my last can. The body is full and mouth-coating with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. Prior to this, Cafe Deth was my favorite of this year's advent calendar, but it's been replaced with what's possibility my all-time favorite beer. It's a shame I might not experience this one again, but I'm glad I got to experience it. I really hope Ellison gets their shit together and returns to the great brewery they once were. 5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #15 Canned in 2021 Marshmallow and light bourbon in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by marshmallow, chocolate and oak that comes in the late mid-palate and lingers into the finish. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. I really wish Ellison could've kept their shit together, but I'll just continue to enjoy my last few stouts from them and hope for better in the future. High 4.5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #13 Canned in 2019 Caramel, sweet malts, bourbon and oak in the aroma. Taste has rich caramel notes, bourbon, semisweet malts and oak in the finish. Some bitterness and booziness, but nothing distracting. The body is full with a medium-ish amount of carbonation. This is (I believe) my last can. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. Bourbon barrel aged English barleywines are great when they're done right, and despite Ellison really dropping the ball in the last few years, they got this one right. It's at the 5 year mark, and while it was better a few years ago, it's still a wonderful brew. High 4.25/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #16 2019 vintage Marshmallow, bourbon and chocolate notes throughout the aroma. Taste has marshmallow and chocolate up front with the bourbon coming through in the mid-palate and staying though the end of the sip and aftertaste. Leaves a stickiness on the lips. The body is full with an appropriately low amount of carbonation. 2019 was a phenomenal year for this one, and while the marshmallow has faded slightly, it's still amazing. Even though the bourbon is present, you'd never guess this is 14.5%. Drinks closer to 10%. 5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #10 2019 vintage Coffee galore in the aroma along with evidence of the bourbon barrel aging. Taste has huge coffee, followed by a nice noticeable and flavorful bourbon and finishing with oak. The body is full with lower carbonation. This is my absolute favorite coffee stout. 2019 was by far the best of the 3 years they made it. It was so coffee forward that you couldn't tell at all that it was almost 15% abv. The coffee has faded some and more of the bourbon is coming through. I only have a few left total among the years they made them. I really hope they brew this again in the future. 5/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #4 2020 vintage Bourbon, chocolatey, roasty aroma. Taste has tons of flavorful bourbon, nice oak presence and notes of chocolate. The body is full with appropriately low carbonation. Short abbreviated description, but don't kid yourself... this is a great beer. The brewery (Ellison) has really gone downhill in the past few years, and unfortunately they haven't released this since 2021, but I'll definitely enjoy what I have from them and hope they get their act together. The craft beer world is super oversaturated and unfortunately the ones that aren't up to snuff will go. Hopefully they fix their issues before it happens to them. Either way, 4.75/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #7 2020 vintage Marshmallow, bourbon and chocolate in the aroma. Taste has marshmallow first, transitioning into a flavorful bourbon, chocolate notes and a little bit of oak showing up in the finish. The body is full with a nice mouth coating mouthfeel and appropriately low carbonation. Simply delicious. The 2019 vintage is the best they've done so far, but every year has been phenomenal. 4.75/5

Barrel Aged Advent Calendar Day #4 2018 vintage Bourbon, caramel and sweet malts in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by caramel, oak semisweet malts and a touch of bitterness on the back end that helps keep the sweetness in check. The body is medium-full with a smooth mouthfeel and lower carbonation. Still my favorite bourbon barrel aged barleywine...it's a shame I'm getting low on them. High 4.25/5
