Beer 2/4 is limpid, deep gold. An off-white, slightly less bolder lace ring than that of beer #1. Dried apricot and biscuit malt linger in the air. Relatively restrained though. Dry hops dominate the palate, helped by biscuit malt, grapefruit peel, pine needle and grass. Light body. Ends dry hoppy. The sensation is light, crisp, tangier than the previous beer, dry and drying. Heads in the old-school direction but isn't too successful in its effort.

Today's flight. The only one. Then all tasted @ La Jonquille for now. Beer 1/4 is lucid straw. A white, dense lace ring on the top. The scent is substantially suppressed, a mere hint of cereal hovers to my nose. The taste is not particularly more appealing either but, at least, the flavors are identifiable: cereal, pale malt and grassy hops. The body is really thin. The hoppy segment conquers more space in the end. Feels truly thin, crisp, marginally tangy and a bit earthy. Unimpressive.

A free sample by Maurice from the bar. 🫶🏻 Merci beaucoup! Je l'apprécie! Looks opaque, deep dark brown. A seductive tan head emerges on the top. Long retention obviously! Tonka, vanilla, cinnamon, lactose and dark chocolate in the air. And graham cracker. Promises a lot. The flavor medley is composed of tonka big time. Can't be missed! Dark chocolate, cacao nibs and cinnamon powder. Vanilla in the second wave. Like reminiscent of Bourbon. The barrel nuances aren't really noticeable now. Brown sugar is marginal in the shadows. Graham cracker supports the grain sector. Fenugreek (nutty aroma according to Google...) is camouflaged. Unfortunately. The body is medium. Not more than that. Pity! Ends with raw cacao powder and raw chocolate. Yeah, it's there. I've seen better ones, sorry. The mouthfeel is medium, lip-glueing, surprisingly dry and a tad drying. Alright, yet nothing phenomenal.

One for the road. A BBA Barley Wine. I'm looking forward!! The beer colors transparent, deep brown. An off-white, fairly moussy head. Sweet dried fruits in the scent: date and fig, first and foremost. Vanilla refuses to stay caged. Brown sugar and a small amendment of cacao nibs seal the olfactory cocktail this time. The gustatory sphere performs! Yeah! Brown sugar, date, vanilla, a suggestion of cacao nibs, fruity Bourbon, fig and barrel notes. Some obvious nuances are absent though, like raisin and plum. The body is expected to be big. The ABV clocks a whopping 12.5 %. Is it then? Nope... Light-medium to medium maximum. A disappointment. A fairly similar cocktail in the aftertaste, I would say. The mouthfeel is medium, lip-glueing, a tad heavy, soft, smooth and barrel aged. Reasonable, definitely enjoyable, but not a masterpiece. Layers are missing.

Beer 4/4 (2). Semihazy, blood orange juice colored beer. Standard carbonation. A bright white, silky head. The scent is really weak: I can solely pick blackcurrant leaf there. Blackcurrant comes forward pretty bravely on the tongue. The escorting components include blackberry, rosehip and black tea. I'm supposed to also get lavender and hibiscus but I fail to receive anything that would resemble them. Neither in the air, nor on the tastebuds. Reduces my rating. The body clocks light to light-medium. Finishes with blackcurrant and blackberry. Leaves a light-medium, juicy, summery, somewhat tart and a bit puckering sensation behind. I so much wanted to find the flavors that the description promises but in vain. Hence, –0.3 stars off from the rating.

Beer 3/4 (2). Translucent gold. Decent carbonation. A shiny white, dense head. Aniseed and moderate licorice root in the fragrance. Floral to some extent. Looovely!! But what?? Where does the aniseed go on the tastebuds? Can't find it anymore. I rather get orange, apricot, peach and black tea. How come did such a change happen so fast? Amazing! Light-medium body. The tail gives the same elements as before. Feels light-medium, tart, a tad puckering and acidic. Starts more interesting than ends.

Beer 2/4 (2). Misty, deep yellow like peach juice. Oppressed carbonation. An off-white, frogspawny lacing. Grass gains a minty twist for the nose. Mint and lemon on the tastebuds. Nevertheless, the biggest surprise factor is spicy green pepper – or it's not really a surprise, the name reveals it. The body is light plus. Ends with bags of green pepper. Unique! Feels light, spiced, piquant, zesty and warming. Innovative! 💚💚

Beer 4/4 (1). Limpid, amber. Hasty carbonation. A restrained head that shrinks fast to the sides. This beer offers the most peculiar olfactory sphere of all the four: green tea, mint, common yarrow, dried apricot. The taste doesn't really follow along the same lines: dried apricot, orange, blood grapefruit, passionfruit and wheat malt. Tweaks more traditional. The body is light minus. Not much of a change in the finish. Feels light, fragrant, tart, puckering, drying and flat. Okay. Steps aside from the beaten track. I appreciate it!

Beer 3/4 (1). Hazy, pale yellow. Lively carbonation. A soft velvety head that grows one finger tall. Fairly nice retention. The olfactory supply is rather limited: grapefruit pith and peel, strong grass, pine needle and modest wheat. The palate is easier than that of the first two. I can spot lemon peel, pith, generous grass, pine and a hint of whitepepper. Wheat, but a suggestion only. A light body here, as well. The end is tangy citrusy. The mouthfeel is light, crisp, dry, drying and piney. A dry-hopped Saison is not among the easiest beers, this has a nice amount of character.

Beer 2/4 (1). Cloudy, warm yellow. Reasonable carbonation. A clean white, dense head that reaches half a finger. Standard retention. The fragrance is a hard nut to crack, it takes me a bit of time to break it down into lime, passionfruit and a floral twist that I can't narrow down in more detail, yet. And wheat, of course. The tongue receives sour nuances of grapefruit, lime and passionfruit but nothing floral. Interesting. Light body. Ends unchanged, a relatively sour package. The sensation is light, tart, puckering, acidic and floral. Not particularly common though.
